A few days before Scott’s next pre-trial conference, friends of SCSC will be hosting a potluck benefit to raise awareness of Scott’s and Carrie’s situations. 3. April 12: Possible hearing for Scott
Scott’s next and final pre-trial conference is currently scheduled for April 12. We’re not sure yet if this will be over the phone or in court, nor if the recent raid in Utah (info here: will affect scheduling at all. Watch for updates- and if April 12 is a hearing in court, please come to Davenport to support Scott!

4. April 16: SAC/SCSC to speak at CUNY event
Members of the Scholars for Academic Justice collaborative will join legal experts and will speak about Scott and Carrie’s case in the context of the Green Scare, and implications for social research. The conference will take place April 15-16 at the City University of New York (CUNY). The panel will begin at 4:15 on April 16th at the Graduate Center in Room 9204/9205, located at 365 Fifth Avenue between 34th and 35th Streets in New York City. This is a part of the third annual conference on “Rightist Movements.” This year, it will explore how legal processes, categories, and discourses create perceived threats in the arenas of environmental animal rights activism and immigration. Bringing together lawyers, activists, and academics, the event will feature two panels, *The Social Context of Immigration Law and The Green Scare: Targeting Environmental and Animal Rights Activism*, to examine the production of “new enemies” in the name of security and the national interest in the post-September 11 context.

5. Write Carrie, and donate!
As mentioned previously, Carrie is thankfully out of segregation in Dubuque County Jail. However, general visiting regulations still mean she can only get visits from family members, making letters more important than ever. Please write her here:
Carolyn Feldman
770 Iowa St.
Dubuque, IA 52001
*Remember: put your full name and return address on the envelope, and if that name doesn’t match the name on the letter, Carrie will likely not receive your letter!

As always, we’re still greatly in need of funds. Between travel costs and legal defense, we need to raise thousands more than we already have. You can donate through PayPal at, or make checks out to Coldsnap Legal Collective with EWOK! in the memo line, and send them to EWOK! c/o Coldsnap, PO Box 50514, Minneapolis, MN 55405.
